Welcome to the University of Utah. The Office of Sponsored Projects (OSP) is here to assist incoming faculty in their preparations to initiate research-related activities at the U. 

OSP can help with some important first steps:

Facilitiate the transfer of grants and awards to the U
Affiliate NIH eRA Commons accounts

Affiliate NSF Fastlane/Research.gov accounts
Register with the U's proposal system Cayuse
Orient incoming investigators with grant submission and award management processes

Vice President for Research (VPR)

The Office of the Vice President for Research has oversight of all research related matters and strives to provide services to faculty and increase the funding available to support research while protecting the University’s interests and assuring compliance with all relevant laws and regulations. These services are intended to help advance research and are handled through offices that include Sponsored Projects.

Systems/Interfaces


The following systems are commonly used at the proposal development, proposal submission, and post-award administration stages. If you need help accessing or navigating any of them, please ask OSP or utilize the chat feature on our website.

Note: Cayuse accounts require a setup request to OSP; instructions can be found in the 'About Cayuse' link below.
eProposal PI status is linked to active employee position titles with HR.
eAward is accessible to anyone with an active CIS login.

eProposal is an OSP system, via CIS, that generates each Document Summary Sheet (DSS). eProposal collects data and approvals, identifies compliance issues, and etablishes the base record for proposal and award project/s.

Cayuse, via CIS, is an OSP managed program for system-to-system proposal submissions in response to many, if not most, federal opportunities that would otherwise be submitted via Grants.gov.
