Corporations & Foundations
Applying for research, scholarship, and program-based funding from philanthropic foundations is something all faculty should consider and pursue. The Foundation Directory Online is also an excellent resource for finding opportunities.
The University's Advancement Office is responsible for maintaining long-term relationships with many institutions, and complements the work of OSP (which is responsible for all sponsored research regardless of sponsor). Within Advancement, Foundation Relations can help faculty with searching for funding opportunities, identifying foundations with ongoing initiatives in particular areas of faculty interest, providing insight about the University's current and historical relationship with foundations, proposal review, and facilitation of ongoing foundation relationships for faculty and their units.
Before contacting a corporate or foundation sponsor please reach out to any of the team below (or your area development officer) with questions or to discuss an opportunity.
- Dhiraj Chand (d.chand@utah.edu)
Director of Leadership and Principal Giving (Local and Family Foundations) - Gwen Allouch (gwen.allouch@hsc.utah.edu)
Associate Director of Foundation Relations (Health) - Lynn Marsella Wong (lynn.wong@hsc.utah.edu)
Interim Director of Foundation Relations (National Foundations)
All proposals and contracts for sponsored research are processed by OSP and we are the authorized officials for negotiating and binding the University of Utah. If you are unsure whether your funding qualifies as a sponsored project, please review the procedure on how to Determine Gift or Sponsored Project.
