Closing out an NIH Grant

Follow the diagram below which gives information regarding the closeout of an NIH award:

If grant is subject to SNAP and there is a carry forward greater than 25% of the total or ≥$250K Complete the NIH eRA Commons RPPR and indicate that YES the carryover will exceed the 25% allowed. In the justification section, provide sufficient programmatic reasoning for the request and how the funds will be applied to the program in the future. Submit the RPPR within 60 days prior to the end date.
If grant is subject to SNAP and there is not a carry forward greater than 25% of the total or ≥ $250K Call GCA to confirm that the carryover is less than 25% or $250K. Complete the NIH eRA Commons RPPR and indicate that the carryover will not exceed the 25% allowed. Submit the RPPR within 60 days prior to the end date.
If grant is not subject to SNAP (i.e., program projects, training grants, cooperative agreements) Complete the RPPR and route this report to OSP within 60 days prior to the end date of the grant year.
