Federal law requires that the University of Utah actively manage the export of any sensitive equipment, software and technology in accordance with national security interests and foreign policy objectives. “Export” includes disclosure to foreign nationals studying and working on campus.
It is imperative that researchers understand these regulations and assist the University in fulfilling its compliance obligations. This affects fundamental research as well as sponsor-restricted programs.
While maintaining the University’s commitment to supporting an open research culture, researchers must also be mindful of protecting scientific and technological innovation from being stolen or exploited by foreign sources. This training will provide practical information to help researchers take protective actions to mitigate research integrity risks.
