Procedures for the Submission of Proposals

7.3 Deadlines

Sponsor requirements vary widely as to what is considered an "on-time" application. A receipt deadline is the date by which the sponsor must receive the proposal. A postmark deadline means that the proposal must be postmarked by the date, not necessarily received by the sponsor. In most cases, a letter of intent, pre-proposal, or proposal will not be considered if it misses the agency deadline. It is up to the PI to determine the correct deadline. This includes whether the deadline is met when the proposal is postmarked or when the sponsor receives it. OSP can be of assistance in this process. If you have any questions about the deadline requirements for your application, please contact OSP for clarification.
